Earl Clark of Rahway and Derrick Caractor of Scotch Plains/ St. Patrick will forego their last two years college eligibility and enter into the NBA draft.

Clark average 11 points per game and 8 rebounds per game during his sophomore year at Louisville. A standout player at Rahway High School, Clark led the school to its first sectional championship in ten years by beating Weeqhuaic High School. He had 41 points in the contest. A four year starter for Rahway, Clark was selected 1st Team All State and 2006 McDonalds All American. Clark averaged 25.2 points his senior year and finished with 1,252 for his career.

A New Look For An Old Favorite—Linden Quick Chek Store Leader Tina Tharaldsen cuts the red ribbon in celebration of Quick Chek’s newly renovated Linden store along side Dean Durling, president and chief executive officer, Quick Chek (on the right), and Mayor Richard Gerbounka (on the left), during a special ceremony complete with a Quick Chek Coffee Toast held on Monday, April 7. Other city officials along with members of the Linden Fire Department came out to celebrate as well. To mark its renovation, Quick Chek will donate $0.25 for every sub, sandwich and wrap sold from April 4 to May 2, to the Linden Fire Department.

CLARK – The Skulski Art Gallery of the Polish Cultural Foundation in Clark will present an exhibit of Lithuanian art from April 25 through May 16.

A few of the class member names are missing and some names may be misspelled, as old material is sometimes hard to read.

Director George Clooney’s “Leatherheads,” a sports comedy circa 1925, amuses in a rote fashion that manages to be consistently convivial without offering a novel nuance or saying anything of great consequence. It’s a testament to what technically skilled filmmaking can accomplish even if the magic of inspiration doesn’t appear on its roster.

Such razzle can dazzle you a bit. The movie becomes the underdog. Human nature dictates that something better might await just beyond the next frame. While such optimism is an attribute far more important to great explorers than filmgoers, nobody’s going to laugh at you for hanging in there. It’s not like you’re saying the screen is round.
