RAHWAY—The parish family of St. Thomas the Apostle Byzantine Catholic Church is busy preparing for their 22nd annual Slavonic Festival on Saturday, Feb. 21. The chefs and cooks are preparing dinner specialties and baking nut and poppy seed rolls each week.
The festival features homemade ethnic dishes such as stuffed cabbage, pierogies, kielbasa and sauerkraut subs. The dining area waiters will serve platters of beef goulash and chicken paprikash along with hearty soups.
The festival will last from noon until 10 p.m. As in the past, “In Check” will play live music at 2 and 7 p.m. for festival-goers’ dancing and listening pleasure. Parishioners and visitors are also invited to attend the Divine Liturgy at 5:30 p.m. in church.
Guests will be able to try their luck at wheels of chance and 50/50 raffles. A craft and new item Sale will be held on the premises and shoppers are sure to find beautiful and unique gifts for the family.
The church has a large parking lot and the festival will be handicap accessible. Admission to the festival is free. For information, call St. Thomas at 732-382-5300. The parish center is located at 1407 St. Georges Avenue, Rahway.
