CRANFORD – On Thursday, April 2, Union County College’s Division of Counseling Services will be hosting a job fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on its Plainfield Campus in the cafeteria at 232 East Second Street. As well, there will be a transfer fair, where current students can learn about transferring from UCC to four-year colleges and universities.

On Wednesday, April 8, the college will be hosting a job fair at its Cranford campus located at 1033 Springfield Avenue. The event will be held in the Victor M. Richel Student Commons from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This fair is open to all those currently seeking employment, including students and members of the public. Anyone planning on attending should come dressed in the proper business attire and have a resume available that is complete and ready to hand out.

cranfordMaking Holiday Memories – New Jersey artist Lloyd Garrison has prepared a pair of new holiday cards featuring paintings of the area. This painting showcases modern-day Cranford. Garrison says that the image brings back memories of the old-time towns. “They had privately-owned stores and the owners knew your name,” the artist says. “I think we all miss the home towns and dread the malls.” Garrison’s other holiday card for 2009 features Walt’s, a favorite hang out for Rahway and Linden residents in the 1950s and 60s. CRANFORD—The Union County Council of the League of Women Voters will present its annual candidates’ forum at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, in the Cranford Municipal Building, 8 Springfield Avenue.

Three seats on the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders are open this year, all for three-year terms. The candidates are Democrats Angel Estrada of Elizabeth, Rick Proctor of Rahway and Nancy Ward of Linden, and Republicans Michael Yakubov of Roselle Park, John Russitano of Westfield and Joseph Franchino of Berkeley Heights.
