SAYREVILLE-Sayreville held their annual Independence Day Celebration on June 28 at Kennedy Park. The festivities began at 4 p.m., but were halted for a short time with a downpour of rain. Activities quickly began again as the rain stopped. Entertainment for the day was Rose Dale; classic rock, Matt O’Ree Band; blues and rock, and John Eddie; folk rock. An apple pie bake off and hot dog eating contests were held, along with rides and activities for the kids.

MIDDLESEX COUNTY— Local communities throughout Middlesex County are planning concerts, festivals and fireworks displays to celebrate Independence Day.
Sayreville will celebrate on Saturday, June 28, with a festival and fireworks at Kennedy Park, 820 Washington Road. The festival will run from 4-9 p.m., with rides, carnival games, a hot dog eating contest and apple pie bakeoff among the events planned. LINDEN —City police are warning residents that illegal fireworks will not be tolerated this year.
“If you’re caught with fireworks, you will be charged,” police Chief Michael Boyle said.
