RAHWAY – Last week, a 92-year-old Rahway resident was struck and injured while walking along Kline Place. She died two days later as a result of her injuries, authorities said.

According to a preliminary investigation, Maria Juhasz was walking on the sidewalk of Kline Place at approximately 2:22 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15. Juhasz was struck by a 2007 Nissan Murano that was backing out of the driveway of 1266 Kline Place, authorities said. She fell to the ground and suffered injuries to her head, police said.

Juhasz was transported to University Hospital in Newark by the Rahway First Aid Squad.  She died on Wednesday, Dec. 17.

RAHWAY – Friday, a Rahway woman was charged with first-degree kidnapping for allegedly abducting a three year old girl from an Elizabeth thrift store last week.

Eyvonne Alexander, 54, was arrested on Oct. 16 following a frantic five-hour search for the girl, who was taken earlier in the day while she was shopping with her mother at Unique Thrift Store on Broad Street, police said.

The store’s security cameras captured video footage of the abduction, police said. The kidnapper, wearing what appeared to be a bushy black wig, just led the girl outside.

Officers Arrest Grieving Family Members During Wake

ELIZABETH – City police are still searching for suspects in the slaying of 20-year-old Curtis Theodore, the eighth person to be killed in Elizabeth this year.

Theodore, a letter carrier with the Scotch Plains Post Office, was shot in the back of the head while at the wheel of his 1998 Ford Taurus. Police discovered his body at 5:40 a.m. on Friday, June 13.

RAHWAY – Police arrested three men Friday who were charged with burglarizing a Midwood Drive home.

Twenty-seven year-old Fords resident Brian Jenkins was arrested after he jumped from the home’s second floor landing, Lt. Joseph Simonetti said, while members of the Rahway SWAT team had to bring out the other two men, Woodbridge resident Donald Russel, 21, and Rahway resident Etay Robinson, 20.

WOODBRIDGE – The Woodbridge Township Police Department today announced the arrest of a township resident on charges of endangering the welfare of an injured person following the Easter Sunday, near-fatal hit and run motor vehicle accident that occurred on Route 1 in Woodbridge.
