PERTH AMBOY – City Councilman Ken Balut is conducting a petition drive to get his name on the ballot to challenge Gov. Jon Corzine in June’s Democratic primary election.
Balut’s website, http://balut4governor.blogspot.com, invites volunteers to “Circulate a petition to put Ken Balut on the Democratic Primary Election ballot!”
Balut says Corzine cannot be trusted because he is irresponsible with money, calling the incumbent, “arrogant, incompetent and dishonest.” Balut’s candidacy is founded on a belief that democracy — the power of the people — is far greater than multimillionaire Jon Corzine’s financial advantage.
The Democratic insurgent also noted that no Republican has garnered 50 percent in a statewide New Jersey election in more than 20 years, so the Democratic primary is the only chance to stop the multimillionaire’s re-election.
Balut was a police officer for 25 years, and spent eight years as president of PBA Local 13 and six years as state PBA delegate.
